Every operator has them, the three key tasks below:

  1. Process monitoring
  2. Action in case of deviations

1 – Process monitoring

Production is going well if the product is manufactured within specifications, on time, and in the correct quantity. Or as an operator would say: ‘It’s running smoothly!’ But how do you see if things are going well, and what should you look for?

2 – Action in case of deviations

If something is about to go wrong with the process or product, what do you do? This can range from minor adjustments to a process setting to an immediate production stop and all hands on deck!

3 – Knowing cause-effect relationships

For which quality deviation should which setting be adjusted? The relationships between the settings with which an operator controls the process and the parameters that determine whether the process and product are good describe the cause-effect relationships of the process.
