The founders

Wouter Schotborgh has always been fascinated by experts—by how they work and what they know, often without realizing it themselves. During his doctoral research at the University of Twente, Wouter investigated how to capture this experiential knowledge. He developed an interviewing method to extract expert knowledge in a structured way. Following his studies, Wouter founded ELICIT B.V. in 2011 and began capturing experiential knowledge for companies across various industries and fields. Every process, machine, and role requires a different type of knowledge. Therefore, Wouter continued to work on modeling decision-making logic for various areas of expertise.

In 2017, this led to a collaboration with Herman Ouwerkerk and the founding of ELICIT Online: an online platform that makes expert knowledge available to everyone on the shop floor in a user-friendly way, tailored to the user’s role and the specific process for which the knowledge was captured.
