Capturing knowledge: prevent expertise from disappearing

The real costs are not in capturing knowledge,
but in losing it

What happens when your most experienced employees leave? The remaining colleagues must rebuild knowledge through “trial and error.” The result: production downtime, quality issues, customer complaints, and safety risks. By capturing knowledge, you can prevent this.

“With ELICIT, even our most experienced operators reach a solution faster.”
Trainer and coach, Van Merksteijn
”We are very satisfied because, with ELICIT, we have found a way to handle non-standard situations, and the action suggestions are available on the spot, quickly and easily.”
Processing Team Leader, FrieslandCampina Beilen

Operator, JDE Joure
“The knowledge model provides guidance. If problem X arises, where can I look? If it is not at A, maybe at B, maybe at C. That significantly structures an operator’s thinking.”
Manager CI, Total Packaging
”Thanks to ELICIT, we now have a proven method for knowledge preservation. That is valuable for our complex processes and when onboarding new people.”
Technology Manager, Burg Azijn
”It is a major advantage that we now have a uniform working method. Everyone follows the same process with the same end result.”
QHSE Manager, Reginox
”With ELICIT, we discovered that we could capture the overload of information that Pieter possesses in a practically applicable way,”
Production Manager, CONO
“The fact that ELICIT can be viewed so quickly and easily next to the line is a very big advantage.”
Operations Manager, Mondi Heerlen
“The cause-and-effect relationship is clearly visible and ensures rapid applicability of the knowledge. They can also easily add new knowledge, allowing the knowledge file to continue growing and improving.”
Operations Manager, Lemoine Holland

Why capture expert knowledge?

Less downtime

Every employee can independently resolve the most common disruptions

Accelerate onboarding

New employees can be trained and deployed at complex workstations more quickly

Higher quality

Fewer rejections, higher FTR scores.

Consistent working methods

A standard working method for all employees, for every process, for every factory.

Continuous improvement

Your best people focus on innovation, not on explaining things over and over again

Safeguarding knowledge

Knowledge is retained, thereby safeguarding the continuity of your organization.

Proven approach

We make the experiential knowledge of your best people digitally accessible so that every employee can make the right decision at any time. We do this with knowledge models that are precisely tailored to the user’s role and the process for which the knowledge is being captured. And with a standardized, scalable, and predictable approach that has been working for more than 15 years.

What does capturing expert knowledge cost after a pilot?

Capturing expert knowledge in a knowledge model starts from €9,450. The exact price depends on the complexity of the knowledge area. Based on the scope of the knowledge area, we can determine the costs. Project execution always takes place based on a pre-agreed hourly budget. We work with a standardized project approach, including interim evaluations. Predictable, transparent, and no surprises.

We always start with a pilot for a new customer, so you can test our solution before deciding on a broader rollout. Have you not done a pilot yet and would you like to know more about it?

Who captures your knowledge?

The ELICIT team consists of knowledge analysts, each with their own specialization tailored to the various branches within the process and manufacturing industry. They know exactly which questions to ask an expert to reach the essence of their experiential knowledge. This always succeeds,  regardless of the complexity of the process or product. Our only condition for success? That you have an expert with this knowledge in-house.

How much time does this take from my experts?

The setup requires five two-hour interviews. We conduct the first two interviews with your most experienced expert, after which colleagues from other departments join in.

Who prepares the knowledge model?

We do. An ELICIT knowledge analyst gathers the knowledge during the interviews and builds the model. Your experts do not need to prepare or write anything down.

What determines whether a process is simple or complex?

The more variables a process has and the more they influence each other, the more complex the knowledge model becomes.

Are the software costs included in this?

No. This is the one-time investment for setting up the knowledge model. To work with it afterwards, you need access to ELICIT. Those costs can be found at:
